Frank Langella is a well known actor whose most famous
role was that of the title vampire in the movie Dracula (1979).
He's also infamously known as Skeletor from the movie Masters Of The
Universe. |

Leslie Bevis makes her first appearance as Rionoj, the
Boslic freighter captain, in this episode. She later appears in the
season three episode "The
Abandoned" and the season four finale "Broken
Link", where her character is named. |

"The Homecoming", along with "The
Circle" and "The
Siege", comprises the first Star Trek three-parter. |

|
Ira Steven Behr on "The Homecoming":
"We'd taken eighteen episodes and established the
show, the concept, the franchise, and now it was time to dig
deeper and see just how far we could go. So we decided to do a show that
deals with Bajor, and the station, and the tenuous relationship between
the Starfleet officers and this new environment they're living in: the
station. We also thought it would be bold to do a three-hour show. We're
nothing if not bold - bold and stupid!" |

Filming of "The Homecoming" began on July 7, 1993, in a
working rock quarry at Soledad Canyon, north of Los Angeles. It was, by
all accounts, one of the most hellacious location choices imaginable.. |
|
|
|
Nana Visitor (Kira) on shooting in Soledad Canyon:
"Colm [O'Brien] and I were sick to our stomachs.
We were seriously wondering if we were going into heat prostration. It
was the perfect location for Cardassia IV, because it was like hell." |
|

|
The producers liked the look of the location and would
send the cast back there several times of the seasons, including "The
Ship" and "Rocks and Shoals". |

Frank Langella's uncredited appearance was a matter of
the actor's own choice. Director Winrich Kolbe recalls,
"He wanted to do the show. He did it for
his children because they loved the show. It was not done for money or
exposure." |
