The closest system to the Gamma Quadrant terminus of the Wormhole is Idran, less than five light years away. It's a trinary system, consisting of twin O-type companions and no class-M planets. Analysis of the system was first conducted in the 22nd century by the Quadros-I probe which was sent to explore the Gamma Quadrant. Idran is over 70,000 light years from Bajor.

The Saratoga was destroyed by the Borg in the Battle at Wolf 359 on Stardate 43997 (cf. "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II" [TNG])

The commanding officer of the U.S.S. Saratoga was a Vulcan male. The tactical officer was Bolian and the then Lt. Commander Ben Sisko served on the bridge staff.

Sisko spent the three years prior to "Emissary" working at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards.

Sisko first met Jennifer on Gilgo Beach after graduating from Starfleet Academy. He proposed to her 15 years before "Emissary".

Sisko's father was a gourmet chef with a famous recipe for aubergine stew.

The Cardassians occupied Bajor for 56 years and completely plundered the planet for it's resources. They withdrew two weeks before "Emissary".

In Bajoran belief, the spiritual life force is known as the pagh.

Nine of the Bajoran orbs ('Tears of the Prophets') have appeared in the skies of Bajor during the last 10,000 years. Monks have been studying the orbs ever since they first appeared but now all but one of them have been taken by the Cardassians.

The Alpha Quadrant terminus of the Wormhole is located in the Denorios Belt, a charged plasma field.

In the 22nd century, a ship carrying Kai Taluno was disabled for several days within the Denorios Belt. Five of the orbs were found in the region and there have been 23 reports of unusual neutrino disturbances in the area.

The Cardassians killed four Bajorans who were trying to protect their shops on DS9 during the withdrawal.

The first contingent of Starfleet officers, including Chief O'Brien, arrived two days before "Emissary" to begin repairs on the station.

The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D left the station on Stardate 46390.1 or the Lapola system after offloading three runabouts including the Rio Grande, Yangtzee Kiang and Ganges. The Enterprise returned to the station on Stardate 46393.1 (between "Chain of Command, Part II" and "Ship in a Bottle" [TNG]).

Miles O'Brien's favorite transporter room on thhe Enterprise was number three.

Keiko O'Brien's mother lives in Kumomoto, Japan, Earth.

Miles mentions the Setlik massacre during the Cardassian Border Wars (cf "The Wounded" [TNG]).

Kira Nerys, the Bajoran attaché to DS9 has been fighting for Bajoran independence ever since she was "old enough to pick up a phaser".

The Dax symbiont is over 300 years old. The current host, Jadzia, is 28 years old. The previous host, Curzon, was a good friend of Sisko and referred to as "old man".

Dr. Julian Bashir is 27 years old and apparently had the pick of "any job in Starfleet".

Odo was found in the Denorios Belt and raised amongst humans who he can mimic with limited success. He does not permit weapons to be carried on the Promenade.

Quark has been on the station for about four years in "Emissary".
