TREKCORE > DS9 > EPISODES > CROSSOVER > Trivia

This episode continues the story of the mirror universe first seen in the TOS episode "Mirror, Mirror" and later in the Star Trek: Enterprise episodes "In a Mirror, Darkly" and "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II". DS9 returns to the mirror universe in "Through the Looking Glass," "Shattered Mirror" "Resurrection" and "The Emperor's New Cloak".

Here we learn that Spock's meeting with James T. Kirk changed his attitude toward the Terran Empire for the better. He became the leader and instituted major reforms, turning the Empire into a more peaceful entity. However, his reforms left the Empire vulnerable, and it later fell to the united Klingon-Cardassian Alliance, of which Bajor is a member in this episode.

It is likely that Bashir and O'Brien sabotaged the station somehow in order to facilitate a fast getaway, given the ease with which the runabout escapes.

Lursa and B'Etor were members of the House of Duras in the year 2370 in the mirror universe. Telok, after spending four years as a guard for the Duras family, called the Klingon sisters "unpredictable."

A Drathan puppy lig is an alien creature that can be kept as a pet. Garak from the mirror universe once compared the affection the Intendant had for Kira Nerys to taking someone into one's heart like a Drathan puppy lig left on the doorstep.

The impulse driver coil on Benjamin Sisko's starship was offline.

The Fowla system is a star system located somewhere near Bajor. In the mirror universe, Benjamin Sisko and his crew were on a mission in the Fowla system, when they were called back by Intendant Kira to meet Major Kira Nerys from this universe.

Isam Helwa was a master of rhythmic breathing techniques who took Julian Bashir under his wing while he was in college. Bashir later demonstrated one of these techniques (Bellows Breath) for Major Kira in an attempt to find common ground with her.

New Bajor was the first Bajoran colony in the Gamma Quadrant, established in 2370. Major Kira Nerys and Doctor Julian Bashir assisted in the construction of the colony's hospital. New Bajor also boasted a rather impressive irrigation system.

Miles O'Brien is nicknamed "Smiley" in the mirror universe.

In the mirror universe, theta was a classification of Terran slaves that were moderately highly ranked and entrusted with certain important tasks. Miles O'Brien was of the theta classification in 2370, and was relatively well-respected by Intendant Kira Nerys.

On the mirror universe Terok Nor in 2370, the mirror Miles O'Brien told Odo that the station's thorium containment cells needed to be upgraded. The Kira Nerys and Julian Bashir from this universe later used a thorium leak as cover from their escape.

Tor Jolan was a famous Bajoran composer. He is considered one of the greatest names in modern Bajoran art. Kira was quite surprised when she learned Doctor Bashir was familiar with Tor's work, who had made a goal to listen to Bajoran music. This almost led them to find a common ground, until Bashir started comparing Tor's work to the Boldaric masters of the 22nd century.

Kira has never heard of Captain James T. Kirk. Bashir read about Kirk's adventures in "Mirror, Mirror" during his Academy days.

Kira meditates every day.
