Richard Beymer (Li Nalas) and Frank Langella (Minister
Jaro Essa) are the only actors, besides the regulars, to appear in all
three episodes in the Bajoran trilogy. |
|
|
|
Steven Weber (Colonel Day) is best known for his role as
Brian Hackett on Wings. |
|
|
|
Writer Michael Piller's action packed third part to the
trilogy was known as "The Alamo" among the staff. |

|
Ira Steven Behr on the decision to kill Li Nalas:
"I just felt that this was a man who was living a
lie, and at the end there needed to be a form of redemption, one that
involved some self-sacrifice. The character was so impotent in certain
ways, so out of his depth, and so clearly miserable as this figurehead.
I think death really was, at that point, a blessing for him." |

|
Dan Curry on the problems of motion control:
"One of the things that makes motion control
difficult when we have more than one ship in a scene is that no two
ships are in scale with each other. So if you have a six-foot diameter
model of Deep Space Nine, and you have an eighteen-inch model of a ship,
you have to keep in mind that in scale with the model, that ship should
really be an inch and a half long. So you have to calculate the
difference in the camera moves, and sometimes because of the limitations
of how far the camera can move on its rig, you can't do the shot." |

Kira's antique fighter and the Bajoran pursuit ships
would very shortly find their way into the Next Generation episode "Preemptive
Strike". |
