SPECIES: Ferengi Male
Rom is Quark's long suffering brother. When Grand Nagus Zek visited Deep Space 9, Quark made
Rom give up his quarters for the Nagus. When Zek
appointed Quark to be the new Grand Nagus, Rom conspired
to kill Quark, and may have succeeded if Zek and Odo
hadn't arrived at the last moment. Quark later praised
Rom for his treachery.

Krax was the son of Grand Nagus Zek and
the unofficial heir-apparent to the throne of the
Ferengi Alliance. Krax was shocked when Zek unexpectedly
nominated Quark to be his successor in 2369, and
immediately retired. When Zek died shortly thereafter,
Krax plotted with Quark's brother Rom to assassinate the
new Nagus.

SPECIES: Ferengi Male
Gral was a 24th Century Ferengi businessman who traveled to DS9 to hear
Grand Nagus Zek announce his successor. After Zek
announced that he had chosen Quark, Gral commented that
Quark was a "lobeless amateur".
Later, Gral offered his services as a bodyguard to Quark
in return for the most lucrative business opportunities
in the Gamma Quadrant. Although Gral called Quark his
new best friend, the Grand Nagus realized that the offer
of friendship was insincere and that Gral was actually
threatening his life. |

SPECIES: Ferengi Male
Nog is Rom's young son. Sisko was not happy
with his son Jake's friendship with Nog, but there was little
he could do about it. However, his disapproval quickly
disappeared when he discovered that Jake was also
teaching Nog how to read, indicating a deep and
constructive friendship. Despite the initial
reservations at his son being taught by a Human female,
Rom eventually allowed his son to attend Keiko O'Brien's
primary school on the station. |

SPECIES: Ferengi Male
Zek was the Grand Nagus of the Ferengi Alliance in 2369. In 2369, he suddenly announced his new successor, Quark (rather than his son Krax), and apparently died soon after. It was discovered that this was only a ploy to test his son's worthiness for the position. However, Krax did not succeed as expected, and Zek postponed his retirement. |
