The USS Constellation was ordered to Deep Space 9 to transport a Jem'Hadar child to Starfleet for study.
   
Joseph Sisko, owner and operator of Sisko's Creole Kitchen, featured many Creole dishes. Joseph's son, Benjamin, could do some amazing things with Creole food as well. In 2371, he prepared one of Joseph's recipes for Creole shrimp with Mandalay sauce for dinner one night for his son and his girlfriend Mardah. He noted that that particular dish "has a bite to it."
   
An exopsychologist is a psychologist who specializes in exopsychology; that is, the study of psychology dealing with new or unfamiliar humanoid minds. A team of specialists, namely xenobiologists and exopsychologists were planned to be assembled on Starbase 201 awaiting for the arrival of a Jem'Hadar youth discovered by Quark.
   
The Founders of the Dominion performed extensive genetic modifications on their two servant races, the Jem'Hadar and the Vorta, in order for them to better serve their roles and to ingrain a fanatical devotion to the Founders.
   
Nurse Hortak was one of Doctor Julian Bashir's Bajoran assistants in the infirmary aboard Deep Space 9. In 2371, she called Dr. Bashir to inform him that his patient, a teenage Jem'Hadar boy, had escaped the infirmary and was loose in the Promenade.
   
Koran was a Bajoran who lived on Bajor, whose parents were killed during the Bajoran Occupation. Koran and his two sisters, Sarjeno and Mardah, were raised by their neighbors thereafter.

Mandalay sauce was a dressing made for a Creole shrimp dish. Benjamin Sisko prepared it for the dinner in which Jake first introduced his onetime girlfriend, dabo girl Mardah.
   
When the crew of Deep Space 9 had recovered a Jem'Hadar youth, and Odo opted to return him to the Dominion rather than to hand them over to the incoming USS Constellation, Sisko justified the change of plans by stating that while Admiral Nechayev won't like it, "I would've had to kill the boy to keep him here."
   
"Odo 1" was a combat holoprogram created by Constable Odo in 2371 to be used by a Jem'Hadar youth to vent his aggression. The program had at least five difficulty settings and the character featured was a Tygarian.
